"Earthships" are homes that are built using recycled materials, often including tires, aluminum cans, and/or glass bottles. Usually involving rammed earth construction, integrated gardens or jungles, passive energy conservation and passive and sometimes active solar heating. Another option is that of "solar toilets", much like composting toilets except that the waste is turned into a fine ash that can be easily and safely disposed of without wasting water. In the 1970's, several television and movie stars built earthship homes. The creator of the earthship is Mike Reynolds of New Mexico.

We would like to build a community of folks who are interested in building earthship homes and living as energy-independently as possible while still using technology is positive ways.
